In a small farming household in Chaurjahari, West Rukum, Jessica Budhathoki has grown up learning the meaning of struggle, responsibility, and quiet determination from an early age.
She was born on July 18, 2006, into a family of six members. Her father, Ratna Bahadur Budhathoki, works as a farmer, and her mother, Gita Budhathoki, is a homemaker who manages the family with care and resilience. Their livelihood depends entirely on agriculture, with an annual income of around NPR 110,000, which often fluctuates depending on the season and crop production. This unstable income makes it difficult to manage daily expenses and educational costs.
Despite these challenges, Jessica’s parents always believed in the power of education. She completed her secondary education from Omega International College, where she received a government scholarship under the Bipanna Barga category, which helped ease the financial burden on her family. Throughout her studies, she remained dedicated, hardworking, and consistent in her academic performance.
Her dream is to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing). Having grown up in a rural area with limited access to healthcare services, she has seen how difficult life becomes without proper medical support. This experience has deeply inspired her to become a nurse who can serve people in underprivileged and remote communities with care and compassion.
However, continuing higher education in nursing is financially challenging for her family. With limited income and multiple responsibilities, her parents are struggling to support her academic journey.
When she learned about the UGO Nepal Scholarship through Facebook, it gave her renewed hope. For Jessica, this scholarship is not just financial aid—it is a chance to continue her studies without constant worry and to move closer to her dream.
She believes she is a dedicated and deserving candidate because of her strong commitment to education and her determination to overcome challenges. If given this opportunity, she promises to work hard and make full use of it.
For Jessica, this scholarship represents a step toward becoming a nurse and serving society, especially those who lack access to proper healthcare.
