In a small agricultural household in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City–23, Bara District, Nanda Kumari Pal is steadily shaping her future through education, determination, and resilience in the face of financial hardship.

She belongs to a modest farming family where her father, Mr. Ram Narayan Prasad Pal, works in agriculture as the primary source of income, earning around NPR 150,000 annually. Her mother is a homemaker who dedicates her time to supporting the family and managing household responsibilities. Despite their hard work, the family lives with limited financial resources, making it difficult to manage even basic educational expenses.

From childhood, Nanda Kumari has carried the dream of pursuing higher education and becoming financially independent. However, her journey has never been easy. The cost of tuition fees, books, transportation, and other academic needs has always been a major challenge for her family. Along with financial difficulties, she has also faced social pressure that often discourages girls from continuing higher education in rural communities. Still, she has remained focused and determined to continue her studies.

She completed her schooling up to Grade 12 from local institutions with limited resources, while consistently working hard to maintain her academic performance. These experiences not only strengthened her education but also built her confidence, discipline, and perseverance.

While searching for ways to continue her bachelor’s studies, she learned about the U-GO scholarship through educational networks and community guidance. This opportunity brought her renewed hope at a time when continuing education felt financially uncertain.

Her goal is to complete her bachelor’s degree, gain professional skills, and become financially independent. She also wishes to support her family and serve as an inspiration to other girls from similar backgrounds who face financial and social barriers in education.

Meet Babita Kumari Bohara, a young and determined student from Bedkot Municipality–2, Jadepani, Kanchanpur District, whose journey reflects resilience, sacrifice, and an unwavering hope for a better future through education.

She was born in Bajhang but is currently living in a rented room in Mahendranagar Bazaar to continue her studies. Coming from a financially weak family, Babita has grown up witnessing continuous struggle, yet also the strength of hard work that keeps her family moving forward.

Her father, Krishna Bahadur Bohara, studied only up to Grade 3, and her mother, Ammara Devi Bohara, has no formal education. Earlier, the family was supported by her grandfather’s pension from his work in India. However, after the passing of both grandparents around 7–8 years ago, that support ended.

Life became even more difficult when her father met with a serious road accident about 12 years ago while returning from India. He underwent surgery on both his body and eyes and is now unable to do heavy work or take up employment. Since then, the entire responsibility of the household has fallen on her mother, who manages the family through small-scale farming, livestock rearing, and limited household income.

Babita belongs to a family of seven members—her parents, four sisters, and one younger brother. Due to financial hardship, her eldest sister could study only up to Grade 12 before getting married. Her second sister supported her education by working as a teacher in a private school and has now completed her bachelor’s degree and is married. Her younger brother and youngest sister are still continuing their studies in Grades 8 and 7.

Despite these challenges, Babita has always dreamed of pursuing higher education, becoming self-reliant, and improving her family’s condition. Being away from home and living in a rented room for her studies has been another financial burden, but she continues her journey with determination.

Her life has been shaped by struggle, but also by inspiration from her family’s sacrifices. She wants to ensure that poverty and limitations do not define her future. Education, for her, is the only path to stability, dignity, and transformation.

For Babita, continuing her studies is not just a personal goal—it is a responsibility toward her family and a hope for a better tomorrow.at easier to continue my studies. Despite our financial hardships, I was able to continue my education with the help of scholarships. However, I had to face many social and financial challenges. During grades 11 and 12, it was very difficult to manage tuition fees and the cost of books and stationery, as my parents did not have a stable source of income. In our community, there is a belief that daughters do not need higher education, which created additional challenges. Nevertheless, my parents encouraged and supported us, hoping that their children would not have to suffer the same hardships they faced.

Although I had a strong desire to pursue higher education, my studies were delayed for one year due to financial difficulties. While searching for possible solutions to continue my education, my teacher informed me about the current scholarship opportunity. After preparing the necessary documents and applying, I was fortunate to be selected for the scholarship. This opportunity has reduced my financial burden and made it easier for me to focus on my studies.

My main goal is to achieve higher education and become a skilled and successful individual. I hope this support will help me overcome financial barriers, concentrate on my studies without economic stress, and move forward toward achieving my goals.

Bimata BK is an inspiring young woman from Chitwan, Nepal, who has a powerful story of determination and resilience. She grew up in a family of five, with her father working as a dedicated sports teacher at Gyan Jyoti Boarding School and her mother managing the household and farming rented land to meet their food needs. Despite their tireless efforts, her parents faced significant financial challenges, and her grandmother’s and uncle’s debts weighed heavily on the family, even putting their small house at risk due to a bank loan.

From an early age, Bimata understood the importance of education. Her parents, both uneducated, instilled in her the value of learning, hoping she could achieve what they could not. As the eldest daughter, she carried their dreams on her shoulders and worked hard to excel academically, despite not having anyone to guide her at home.

Thanks to her good grades and financial need, Bimata received support from the organization Education for Empowerment (E4E), which provided her with a scholarship from grade 4 to 12. This allowed her to focus on her studies without the burden of financial worries. She passed her S.E.E. from Shree Amar Jyoti Boarding School and continued her education at Gurukul College for her 11th and 12th grades.

However, the cost of pursuing her dream of studying for a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) seemed insurmountable. When she learned about the expenses of higher education, her hopes began to fade. But a turning point came when her father discovered U-Go Nepal online. Encouraged by him, Bimata applied for their scholarship and was overjoyed to be selected. This opportunity allowed her to enroll in her dream program and continue her academic journey.

Bimata’s ultimate goal is to become a skilled professional in business, contributing to her community and driving positive change. She envisions creating opportunities for others, fostering both economic and social development. For her, the U-Go Nepal scholarship represents more than just financial support—it symbolizes hope, possibility, and a chance to achieve her aspirations.

With gratitude and determination, Bimata is embracing this new chapter of her life. Every challenge she has faced has fueled her drive to succeed, not just for herself but also for her family, her community, and U-Go Nepal, who believed in her potential. Niruta Bohora grew up in a lower-middle-class family, where life was a series of challenges. Her early childhood was filled with happiness until tragedy struck when she was just four years old.  Her father passed away due to a medical condition. From that moment, her mother took on the full responsibility of raising Niruta and her two elder sisters alone.

Niruta’s mother worked tirelessly, tending fields, raising cattle, and selling dairy products like milk and ghee. Despite her efforts, financial struggles loomed, and societal judgment weighed heavily on their shoulders, especially as a single mother with three daughters and no permanent job. Yet, her mother’s resilience was strong and did her best to provide a good life for Niruta and her sisters. Inspired by her mother’s strong resilience, Niruta and her sisters try their best to work hard for a better future.

Niruta attended a government school, balancing her education with helping her mother at home and in the fields. However, the family’s economic hardships and pressure from the society, forced her elder sister into an early marriage, a painful reality of their circumstances. Living in a small house with limited resources, there were times when they lacked even basic necessities. Regardless of their struggles, their mother emphasized the importance of education, believing it would lead to a brighter future.

Studying in a government school meant Niruta initially struggled with English, but her determination to excel never wavered. She worked hard and, eventually completing her college education, a milestone that once seemed like a distant dream due to her financial situation. She often worried about being a burden to her mother and wondered if she could ever afford to go to the university. Yet, those worries fueled her determination. 

The turning point in Niruta’s life came when she learned about a scholarship from a teacher at Brixton College, where she had been taking entrance preparation classes. For Niruta, the scholarship represented more than financial aid, it was a chance to pursue her education without further straining her family. 

Niruta’s dream is to become a bank officer, a goal she sees as both a personal achievement and a way to honor her mother’s sacrifices. The scholarship is a step toward that dream, allowing her to focus on her studies without the constant worry about money. She dreams of  giving her mother a better life; a life free of struggles and sacrifices.

Niruta remains committed to not only improving her own life but also uplifting others from similar challenging backgrounds. She is determined to make her family proud, support those who stood by her, and inspire others to believe that despite their background they all can do well.

Krishna Jogi, a first-year BBS student from Udayapur, currently resides in Triyuga Municipality. From a young age, Krishna has been deeply passionate about education and building a better future for herself and her family. Despite facing numerous challenges, she has remained determined to pursue her dreams.

Born into a financially struggling family of nine, Krishna grew up in a household where hardships were an everyday reality. Her father works as a laborer to support the family, while her mother suffers from high blood pressure, which requires ongoing medical attention. These financial burdens forced two of her sisters to discontinue their education. However, Krishna was committed to learn, and to improve her family’s circumstances.

Her educational journey began at a government school, where limited resources often meant she couldn’t afford basic necessities such as stationery, books, or even food at times. Yet her dedication caught the attention of her teachers, who supported her financially and encouraged her to continue. Krishna completed her education till grade 12 with the support of scholarships and generous mentors.

The challenges she faced went beyond material scarcity. Her family endured neglect and discrimination from society due to their poverty, an experience that left emotional scars but also strengthened her resolve. When her mother’s health deteriorated, requiring treatment in Kathmandu, the family struggled to manage the expenses. Instead of receiving sympathy, Krishna often faced negative remarks from those around her. These experiences have fueled her determination to rise above them and earn the respect of the very society that once rejected her and her family. In addition to that, she is actively looking for a part-time job, to contribute to her family’s expenses. 

Today, she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree with the support of U Go Nepal’s scholarship. This opportunity is a pivotal moment in her journey, bringing her closer to her aspirations of uplifting her family and helping others in similar circumstances. Her ultimate dream is to become an educational officer, contributing to the improvement of Nepal’s education system and ensuring that others have the opportunities she fought so hard to secure.

Meet a determined young girl who was born in a small village and comes from a financially struggling family. Her family consists of her father, mother, and brother. Her father works as a security guard, earning only around NPR 16,000 per month, while her mother takes care of the household. Despite their hard work, their financial situation remains very weak, and life has always been full of struggle for them.

Since neither of her parents had the opportunity to study, they have always dreamed of giving their children a better future through education. She grew up witnessing their hardships and sacrifices, which became her biggest motivation to study and succeed in life.

From Grade 1 to Grade 10, she studied in a government school. During her school years, she often faced financial difficulties, especially when it came to buying books and study materials. She could only study the subjects provided in school and often had to borrow books from friends because she could not afford her own. Even basic educational materials were sometimes difficult to manage for her family.

During Grade 11 and 12, she continued her studies with great difficulty. At one point, she struggled to even manage the exam entry forms due to financial problems. When she shared her situation with her school principal, he kindly helped her study free of cost up to Grade 10, and later she also received some financial support for Grades 11 and 12.

She completed her +2 studies with dedication, and because of her good academic performance, she was later called to Mahakavi Devkota Campus. There, she expressed her desire to continue her education but also shared her financial struggles. A teacher at the campus informed her about a scholarship opportunity, and she successfully applied for it.

Her dream is to become a Network Administrator (Network Prashasan). She believes that with the support of this scholarship, she will be able to continue her studies and achieve her goal. She also hopes to contribute to the development of Nepal and, in the future, support children who face similar financial struggles so they too can pursue their education.
