    BABITA THAPA

Meet Babita Thapa from Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, a student whose journey shows the power of patience and hard work. Living with her parents and brother, she saw her father work tirelessly as a plumber to support the family. Even though money was always tight, Babita never let her circumstances slow her down.

Since she was a young girl, Babita has been a top student. In primary school, she earned scholarships for her high grades. To finish high school, she rode her bicycle 40 minutes every day to reach a government school far from her home. When it was time for college, she chose to study science and earned a full scholarship for her tuition. She woke up before dawn to reach her classes by 6:00 a.m., often cycling through thick, freezing winter fog just to make sure she never missed a lesson.

After finishing high school, Babita passed the entrance exam for nursing. It was a moment of great pride, but it quickly turned into a difficult challenge. Her family simply did not have the money to pay the admission fees. While her friends went off to start their careers, Babita had to stay behind. She felt like she had failed, but she refused to quit. She spent a year waiting and preparing, learning that perseverance is just as important as high grades.

“This scholarship has helped me move out of the harsh winter fog into a bright future.”

Babita’s dream is to become a nurse. For her, nursing is more than a career; it is a way to take care of people who are suffering and to give back to the community that raised her. She wants to honor the sacrifices her parents made by becoming a skilled professional who can finally provide for them.

The U-Go Scholarship has given Babita her chance back. By helping to cover her nursing fees, it has lifted a heavy weight off her father’s shoulders. Now, Babita can focus on her books instead of the cost of her tuition. She is ready to study hard and become a nurse who brings hope and care to others, just like the scholarship brought hope back to her life.

  • MAN KUMARI ACHARYA

    MAN KUMARI ACHARYA

Meet Man Kumari Acharya, a resilient and high-achieving student from a large family of ten. Growing up with five sisters and a younger brother, Man Kumari has witnessed firsthand the quiet strength and sacrifice required to sustain a household of eight children on a single, modest income.

Her father, Vishnu Acharya, works tirelessly as a guard at a local dairy. While his earnings are the family’s sole lifeline, providing for such a large household means that basic necessities—especially educational materials like books and stationery—have often been out of reach. Her mother, Tika Acharya, manages the complexities of their home, instilling in her children the value of perseverance.

Man Kumari has never viewed her family’s financial constraints as a dead end, but rather as a motivation to excel. Her academic record is a testament to this drive: she remarkably topped the Class 12 Rasta Sanstha Scholarship, proving that her intellectual merit could shine even when resources were scarce. For Man Kumari, every book she struggled to buy was a reason to study harder.

Her dream is clear and fueled by a sense of social duty: she aspires to become a Head Teacher. She doesn’t just want to lead a classroom; she wants to lead an institution and shape the educational landscape of her community. She believes that by becoming a successful educator, she can break the cycle of poverty for her family and inspire the next generation of students in Nepal.

Guided by her sister Amrita and her teachers to apply for the U-GO Nepal Scholarship, Man Kumari sees this as the final piece of the puzzle. The scholarship represents the freedom to study with confidence, ensuring that her focus remains on her pedagogical goals rather than the burden of tuition fees. With this support, she is determined to honor her parents’ sacrifices and transform her passion for teaching into a lifelong career of service.

  • NEHA KUMARI YADAV

However, five years ago, her family’s world changed when her father, Abhesh Kumar Yadav, suffered a stroke that left the left side of his body paralyzed. As the business faltered under the weight of his illness, the family’s primary income vanished. Yet, even in his physical struggle, Abhesh remained Neha’s greatest source of strength, teaching her that resilience is found in the heart rather than the body.

For Neha, the path to education has been an uphill climb. Beyond the immediate struggle to afford tuition, books, and uniforms, she faced the heavy pressure of traditional community expectations. In a setting where many urged her parents to prioritize an early marriage over her degree, Neha’s parents stood firm, choosing to invest in their daughter’s potential rather than succumb to social pressure.

Throughout her schooling, Neha proved that her determination matched her parents’ trust. From Grade 10 through Grade 12, her academic dedication earned her a 50% scholarship, providing the essential relief needed to keep her dreams alive during the family’s most difficult financial years.

Now, Neha sets her sights on the banking sector. She dreams of a career that offers not just personal success, but the stability her family lost years ago. To Neha, becoming a banking professional is a way to prove that a daughter can be the pillar of her household and a contributor to her society.

When she learned about the U-GO Nepal Scholarship through a supportive neighbor, she saw it as more than just financial aid—it is the bridge between her current reality and her future as a financially independent leader.
