Meet Babita Thapa from Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, a student whose journey shows the power of patience and hard work. Living with her parents and brother, she saw her father work tirelessly as a plumber to support the family. Even though money was always tight, Babita never let her circumstances slow her down.
Since she was a young girl, Babita has been a top student. In primary school, she earned scholarships for her high grades. To finish high school, she rode her bicycle 40 minutes every day to reach a government school far from her home. When it was time for college, she chose to study science and earned a full scholarship for her tuition. She woke up before dawn to reach her classes by 6:00 a.m., often cycling through thick, freezing winter fog just to make sure she never missed a lesson.
After finishing high school, Babita passed the entrance exam for nursing. It was a moment of great pride, but it quickly turned into a difficult challenge. Her family simply did not have the money to pay the admission fees. While her friends went off to start their careers, Babita had to stay behind. She felt like she had failed, but she refused to quit. She spent a year waiting and preparing, learning that perseverance is just as important as high grades.
“This scholarship has helped me move out of the harsh winter fog into a bright future.”
Babita’s dream is to become a nurse. For her, nursing is more than a career; it is a way to take care of people who are suffering and to give back to the community that raised her. She wants to honor the sacrifices her parents made by becoming a skilled professional who can finally provide for them.
The U-Go Scholarship has given Babita her chance back. By helping to cover her nursing fees, it has lifted a heavy weight off her father’s shoulders. Now, Babita can focus on her books instead of the cost of her tuition. She is ready to study hard and become a nurse who brings hope and care to others, just like the scholarship brought hope back to her life.
