For Tirtha Maya Magar, every step toward education has also been a step through financial struggle, family responsibility, and quiet perseverance.
She is from Triyuga Municipality–15, Ranibas, Udayapur, and comes from a family of five who depend mainly on agriculture for survival. Her father works as a farmer, raising pigs and goats and cultivating crops such as rice, maize, and wheat on their small land. Alongside farming, he also takes up daily wage labor whenever possible. Even with continuous effort, the family income remains limited at around NPR 120,000 per year, making it difficult to manage basic needs and educational expenses.
Her mother, who was once active in supporting the family, has been physically disabled since being struck by lightning during Tirtha Maya’s childhood. Although she cannot contribute financially, she remains the emotional pillar of the family, encouraging her children to stay strong despite hardships.
Tirtha Maya is currently in the second year of BBS at Triyuga Janata Multiple Campus, Motigada. Her elder sister is also studying BBS, while her younger sister is in grade seven. To continue their education, all three sisters live in rented rooms away from home, which adds significant financial pressure in terms of rent, food, and daily expenses.
Despite these challenges, she has remained focused on her studies. She achieved first position in Grade 10, a moment of pride for her family. She has also actively participated in extracurricular activities and college programs, earning recognition and small rewards that helped support her education. During her +2 studies, she faced increasing financial difficulties, but with freeship support from her college, she was able to continue her academic journey.
Her life has been shaped by constant effort to balance ambition with hardship, yet she continues to move forward with determination.
When she learned about the UGO Nepal Scholarship through her college and friends, it gave her renewed hope. To her, this scholarship is not just financial assistance—it is relief from constant pressure and a chance to focus fully on her studies.
Her dream is to become a responsible and self-reliant individual who can uplift her family’s living conditions and contribute to society. She hopes to turn her struggles into strength and create opportunities not only for herself but also for others facing similar challenges.
She strongly believes that education is the key to transformation, and with the support of this scholarship, she is determined to complete her studies and build a better future with confidence and dignity.
