Bandhana Sharma is a nineteen-year-old student from Ratnanagar, Chitwan. She is currently in her third semester of a Bachelor’s in Information Technology (BIT) at Birendra Multiple Campus. After finishing high school, she faced a very tough choice: should she go abroad to earn money for her family, or stay and study? With her parents’ support, she decided to stay and follow her dream of working in technology.
Life has been difficult for her family. Her father used to work abroad but returned home to start a farm. Sadly, he lost his cows and faced many setbacks. Now, he drives an auto-rickshaw to support Bandhana and her younger sister. As the oldest daughter, Bandhana feels a strong need to succeed so she can help her father and provide a better life for her family.
Despite these money problems, Bandhana has always been an excellent student. She earned high marks in school and even came in first among all the girls in her college entrance exam. In her first semester of college, she was the top student in her faculty. These successes have given her the confidence to keep going, even when things are hard.
To help pay for her studies, Bandhana works part-time as a tutor. However, working and studying at the same time is exhausting. It leaves her with less time to practice her computer skills and focus on her lessons. The constant worry about paying for college makes it hard to stay focused.
The UGO Nepal Scholarship would change everything for Bandhana. It would take away the stress of tuition fees and allow her to spend all her time on her studies. For her, this scholarship is not just money—it is the key to finishing her degree, starting a good career, and finally giving her family the stable future they deserve.
