Empowering Future Leaders: U-GO Nepal and Standard Chartered Bank Conclude Successful First Phase of Global Mentorship Initiative

U-GO Nepal is proud to announce the successful completion of the first phase of our mentorship program, a key part of a global initiative between U-GO and Standard Chartered Bank (SCB). This collaboration aims to provide young women with the professional guidance and corporate exposure necessary to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.

Impact by the Numbers: Phase One Success

In this inaugural phase, 25 U-GO Nepal scholars were selected to participate in intensive one-on-one mentorship sessions. These scholars were paired with experienced professionals from Standard Chartered Bank Nepal.

The results from this first cohort have been transformative. Scholars reported significant growth in several key areas:

  • Professional Confidence: Moving from uncertainty to having a clear, actionable roadmap for their careers.
  • Communication Skills: Mastering the art of professional dialogue and expressing complex ideas with clarity.
  • Strategic Thinking: Learning practical business tools, such as performing SWOT analyses and understanding market risk.
  • Resilience: Building the mental fortitude to overcome academic and personal challenges.

“The mentorship has shown us how to solve our problems, how to communicate effectively with others, and has also provided life-useful skills.”Sirjana Tharu

“I walked into the session with a lot of nerves, but I’m walking away with so much clarity and excitement.”Aayusha Aryal

The Journey Continues: Announcing Phase Two

Building on the incredible momentum and positive feedback from both mentors and mentees, we are excited to announce that the second phase of the mentorship program is officially launching.

Following the success of the first 25 pairings, 25 more new scholars from U-GO Nepal will now begin their mentorship journey with Standard Chartered Bank professionals. This expansion doubles the reach of the initiative, ensuring that more young women have access to the high-level professional network and expertise that SCB provides.

A Global Commitment to Excellence

This program is more than just a local effort; it is part of a broader global commitment by U-GO and Standard Chartered Bank to empower women through education and professional development. By bridging the gap between university life and the corporate world, we are ensuring that our scholars are not just graduating, but are ready to lead.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated team at Standard Chartered Bank Nepal for their continued partnership and for investing in the future of these 50 scholars.
